The theory behind this is fairly simple, don't eat foods that consistently cause your blood sugar levels to rise. This would include anything that is carbohydrate based. The trouble is, most people think that if your type 2 diabetic but you stick to things like wholemeal pasta or porridge oats, then your going to be ok.
Not really, because over time you pancreas will be put under more and more strain, overcompensating for the fact that your cells are not as responsive to insulin as they should be. You need to avoid or heavily restrict, anything that is going to do this to your system. What ever you do, do not start the day with a carb based meal. This sets you up for more of the same throughout the day.
Remember, you pancreas needs its rest and your body will manage to find energy through foods other that pasta. Keeping your blood sugar levels low will massively help your pancreas and your insulin sensitivity improve
